Fundraiser planned for lymphoma victim

A pasta dinner in support of Tyler Branca, a 21-year-old college student who was recently diagnosed with Non-Hodgkins lymphoma will be from 11:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Sunday at St. Charles Catholic Church Hall, 7345 Westview Drive.

The dinner includes pasta, meatballs, salad, roll, dessert, coffee, tea and orange drink. Caffe Capri donated the pasta, sauce and meatballs. Take-out orders are available, and an auction and 50/50 raffle also are planned.

Tickets are $9 for adults and $6 for children 10 and under and are available at the door. Monetary donations also are accepted at any First National Bank, by asking for the Tyler Branco Fund.

Car-show fundraiser

The third annual St. Nick’s Car Show will be from noon to 6 p.m. Sunday in the parking lot of St. Nicholas Church at 762 Fifth St. Proceeds will be used to buy new books for the school library.

Vehicle and motorcycle registration on the day of the show will be $10 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Entries include street rods, hot rods, rat rods, classic muscles, antiques, modifieds, low riders, tuners, and trucks. New classes this year are for trucks and rust buckets.

The car show also will put on a cornhole ole tournament with a $25 entry fee per team of two players.

Chip and a Chair Texas Hold’em Poker tournament will kick off the car show Saturday. Doors open at 3 p.m.; tournament is at 5 p.m. with a $50 buy-in.

Rib Burn Off in park to feature six teams

YOUNGSTOWN

The Mahoning Valley Rib Burn Off will be from noon to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday and noon to 8 p.m. Sunday at Mill Creek Park’s Wick Recreation Area, Belle Vista Avenue and McCollum Road. The event will feature six nationally-known championship rib teams, arts and crafts booths, activities for children and families and live musical entertainment. Admission will be $5 per person after 3 p.m., free before then. All proceeds benefit children’s playground construction at the Wick Recreation Area.
