Campbell voters to see street levy on fall ballot

CAMPBELL — City voters will consider a 3-mill additional levy for street paving in November.

City council voted 4-1 tonight to put the levy, which would generate new taxes, on the fall ballot.

Council member Bryan Tedesco cast the dissenting vote. He said he believes a police-and-fire levy that will be up for renewal next year is more important, and he doesn’t want to jeopardize its chances of passing.

The new levy would generate $197,285 a year for five years. A mill generates $1 for every $1,000 of assessed property value.
