Vacant house fire in city today could be 11th arson in week

Arson is suspected inan afternoon blaze today that damaged a vacant duplex on East Glenaven Avenue. The fire started in the second-floor apartment about 12:30 p.m.

No injuries were reported.

It took city firefighters about an hour to get the fire under control. The cause remains under investigation and the case has been turned over to the department’s arson division.

If it’s ruled an arson, it would be at least the 11th one in a week in the city, all of vacant homes. Two vacant houses were destroyed by arson early Saturday.
