Kinsman House to be library program

Trumbull County historian Wendell Lauth will present a program about The Kinsman House at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Warren-Trumbull County Public Library, 444 Mahoning Ave. NW.
The illustrated lecture will highlight the house’s history and heritage.

Lansingville will be subject of presentation
LIBERTY
The Ethnic Heritage Society will sponsor a presentation on the history of Lansingville at 10 a.m. Saturday at Kravitz’s Delicatessen, 3135 Belmont Ave., Liberty. Historian Gene DeCapua, a retired librarian who is a docent at the Mahoning Valley Historical Society, will track the development of the ethnic neighborhood of the city’s south side from the early 20th century through the 1950s.

Relay For Life will be June 1 through June 2
AUSTINTOWN
The American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life of Austintown will start June 1. The event honors cancer survivors and cancer patients, and pays tribute to those who have lost their battle.
Teams will spend 24 hours together in efforts to raise money and fight the disease. A Survivors lap will follow the opening ceremonies, which start at 6 p.m. June 1, and there will be a luminaria ceremony at 9:45.
A Caregiver Garden will display the names of those who give so much for their loved ones and a Caregiver Luncheon will take place at noon on June 2.
The event will have music, live entertainment, games and other activities. The “Ovations” will play on Friday from the opening laps until midnight. Entertainment for June 2 will include the “Praise Glory Band,” Vince Dance Studio and “DeoVindice” band. For information call Jennifer Arden at 888-227-6446, ext. 2217.
5K race will benefit ROC youth center
SALEM
A 5K Obstacle Run Race on June 9 will benefit ROC of Salem, a community youth center that serves local residents age 14 through 20.
The ROC, open Tuesday and Saturday nights, provides free activities including basketball, volleyball, pool, table tennis, foosball, air hockey, cornhole, Wii, lock-ins and special events.
Participants will run in a “wave.” Starting times for each wave are 9 a.m., 9:45 a.m., 10:30 a.m., or 11:15 a.m.
You can choose which wave you wish to run in when you register. All registration will take place online. Sign up at www.racefortheroc.com.
Hot-dog-eating contest planned at church
AUSTINTOWN
Registration is being accepted for the 2012 Austintown Championship Hot Dog Eating contest, which will take place June 30 at Wickliffe Christian Church, 3939 Potomac Ave.
The event is sponsored by Austintown Wickliffe Block Watch and will take place during the annual block party, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Contests will be offered for three age groups: 8 to 12; 13 to 16; and 17 and up. Cash prizes will be awarded. The contest is open to all Austintown residents and businesses and is limited to 10 participants per event, with advance registration required.
