Slavic recipes will be highlight of contest

The second annual Slavic baking competition at the Simply Slavic Festival on June 16 in downtown Youngstown is open to contestants.

Those age 18 and up may submit a form with the recipe of 100 words or less, plus the $10 registration fee, made payable to “Simply Slavic,” to: Simply Slavic Baking Contest, c/o Mary Margaret Hovanes, 4442 Rita Ave., Youngstown, OH 44515. Applications will be accepted until June 12 and are available online at www.simplyslavic.org, or can be picked up at Youngstown City Hall.

Entries must be delivered to the baking contest table no later than 2 p.m. the day of the event. Contestants are asked to take two of each item (or two dozen cookies), packaged separately. For information visit the website or call 330-792-6281.
