Aurora 8, Boardman 1

BOARDMAN

Sarah Petrash allowed just two hits as Aurora advanced to a district semifinal against Hudson at Fields of Dreams in Boardman. Erin McNamara led Aurora, the No. 5 seed, with a double, single and two RBIs. No statistics were provided by Boardman.

DIVISION IV

Mathews 3, Lordstown 0

VIENNA

Cheyenne Eggens struck out seven batters and allowed just three hits on the mound for Mathews (20-5). Tabby Granelly tripled. Hailey Toporcer had two hits for Lordstown, who finished the year 12-12.

Columbiana 2, McDonald 1

COLUMBIANA

Junior Collette Steiginga, a pinch-runner for Megan Cutlip who had tripled, scored on a passed ball with one out in the bottom of the sixth to carry the Clippers to victory in a game which had only seven hits. Also for Columbiana, Khylea Fullum had a triple and Dakota DeAmicis had a double for the Clippers’ only three hits. Of the four hits allowed by DeAmicis (15-3), Rachel Jones doubled for McDonald (10-11). DeAmicis, a junior, had eight strikeouts and one walk, while her counterpart for McDonald, Leigh Gatta, had a three-hitter that included three strikeouts and plenty of putouts by her defense. Today, the Clippers (17-4) play a regular-season doubleheader against Mogadore and West Branch at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.

Mineral Ridge 2, Lisbon 1

LISBON

With Lisbon runners on second and third with two outs in the bottom of the seventh, Meghan Garland retired the side to preserve Ridge’s victory. Freshmen Allie Watkins and Darby Kolesar both had two singles for for the Rams (18-7), while Elyssa Simko, Caitlin Smith, McKenzie Garland, Meghan Garland and Emily Reese added a single apiece for the winners, who play in a district semifinal next Thursday. K. Hiscox had three singles and K. Schaffer doubled for Lisbon.

DIVISION III

Newton Falls 4,

South Range 2

NEWTON FALLS

Bailey Shade had five walks and nine strikeouts in a winning cause for Newton Falls, while loser Carly DeRose struck out 11 and didn’t issue a walk for South Range.

Abby Harrah doubled for Newton Falls (17-5), wiile Kristin Robinson had three hits, including a double for South Range (18-8).
