Boardman’s Hadley wins twice at Federal League track meet

Mark Hadley was a double winner in the 1600 and 3200 and Nathan Jones and Brian Bodrick won the 100 and 200, respectively, to help Boardman to a fourth-place finish in the Federal League meet on Friday.

Jones won the 100 in 10.86, and Bodrick finished in 23.10.

Hadley won the 1600 in 4:21.99 and the 3200 in 9:30.11.

Jackson won with 132, followed by Canton McKinley (1121/2). Boardman scored 1051/2.

Among the girls, Boardman’s Giovanna Silvestri won the shot put with a throw of 37-101/2 and she was second in the discus with a throw of 121-81/2.

GlenOak won with 1101/2, followed by Perry with 106.

SALEM

The Salem boys track team won the Northeastern Buckeye Conference meet.

Zack Penick, Marcus Crittenden and Paul Matak were all part of the 4x100 and 4x200 teams that placed first with times of 44.00 and 1:32.88, respectively.

Bush also was second in the high jump, only behind teammate Zach Wukotich who cleared 6 feet, 2 inches. Anthony Shivers, also of the Quakers won the discus with a throw of 183-6.

West Branch finished sixth in the team standings with 60 points and was led by Drake Lohnes’ first place finish in the 3200 (10:02.35).

Louisville won the girls meet with 135 points, while West Branch had 98 for second place.

The Warriors’ 4x400 team of Alex Tubbs, Rebekah Zets, Erin Carver and Kyla Sharp was first with a time of 4:11.25.

Salem was fourth in the standings with 80 points as Ciera Trybend won the shot put throwing 40-55.
