The Stadium Drive PTA put a cherry on top of the school year as it hosted the annual Ice Cream Social on April 27.
The event, which is the last of the year for the PTA, is such a big blowout that the organization uses the Boardman High School cafeteria for the night of the social.
PTA event chair Erin Saluga said the event appeals to students and families for simple reasons.
“It’s a great family night at a very reasonable price. Parents get to spend time with their kids and community of Stadium parents, and hopefully make some new friends. Of course, we’d like to think the ice cream is probably the best reason to come,” Saluga said.
When guests arrived at the soiree, they were given a cup of Dairy Queen soft-serve in a plastic cup.
The PTA set up a topping station, where guests added chocolate chips, Oreo pieces, caramel, whipped cream and other toppings to their treat.
When guests emptied their ice cream cups, a DJ kept upbeat tunes on rotation and the dance floor open.
Carnival games, manned by Boardman High School students, offered students the chance to win small prizes.
Stadium Drive student Logan Malysa attended with his mom, grandparents and great-grandmother, making the Ice Cream Social a fun multi-generational event.
“We go out together all the time – all four generations together. Ice cream makes for a great night and Logan really enjoys himself and gets to spend time with his friends,” said Logan’s mom, Susan Malysa.
