Fifteen members of the Austintown Fitch Interact Club spent April 23 exploring potential future careers through the Rotary Club of Austintown mentoring program.

This is an annual event, stressing vocational exploration, that pairs professionals with students. Vocational Chairman Vince Colaluca, aided by Rotarians Ram Kasaganti and Gary Reel, placed students in various locales for the morning, culminating in a luncheon at the Saxon Club for mentors and their students.

This year, half were placed at Youngstown State because of the fields chosen. One placement included Caitlin Coble, Logan Skolnick and Jaclynn Choma at the Culinary Arts Center in Boardman with JoAnn Musial, Allan Grossman and Shane Solvesky.

YSU groups included Amanda Choma with Tom Wakefield in actuarial science, Kaelyn Snyder with Carl Chuey in botany, Sarah Sheffield with Gary Walker in biology, Mariah Roberts with Jay Gordon in English department, Latrice Nelson with Matt O’Mansky in Anthropology and Kamisha Parker, Sierra DuBois, and Aaliyah Sadler with Robert Wardle in Criminal Justice.

Megan Miller was hosted by local physician Jim Shina, while Mariah Cuevas was following Stephanie Olesko at the Hopes and Dreams Daycare. Finally, Eric Edwards and Jessica Halas were welcomed by Jim Logan, physical therapist, at Omni Manor West.
