Cute pet contest scheduled for May 19

Walmart’s Relay For Life team will have a “Cutest Pet Contest” at 11 a.m. May 19 in the Walmart parking lot, 1300 Doral Drive. Registration is from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. May 19 on site and the cost is $10 per pet. Proceeds benefit the American Cancer Society. Angels for Animals will be at the event with its mobile adoption unit.

The event is open to dogs and cats. Pets must be leashed or caged at all times and owners are responsible for cleaning up after their pets.

The following prizes will be awarded: 1st place, $75 gift card and gift basket; 2nd place, $50 gift card and gift basket; 3rd place, gift basket; and People’s Choice, $25 gift card. An auction also is planned.
