Local auto sales continue to trail last year's pace


YOUNGSTOWN — Local auto sales continue to trail last year’s pace, although in April more vehicles were purchased.

New- and used-car sales increased by 25 in April. For the year, total sales remain down 340, according to a report form the Automobile Dealers Association of Eastern Ohio Inc.

New-car sales were up 36 to 2,150 for the month of April. For the full year, there have been 7,849 new cars sold, a drop of 1,001 from this point in 2011.

Buyers appeared to shift away from used cars in April, with sales down 56 compared to April 2011. For the year, used-cars sales are up considerably in 2012 with 15,030 sold, an increase of 576 from this time last year.
