POLICE CALLS
A summary of recent criminal activity in Poland and Boardman townships:
POLAND
May 1
Identity theft: A Hilltop Drive woman learned her credit/debit-card number had been used to make an unauthorized $64 purchase.
May 2
Harassment: A Renwick Drive man said an acquaintance harassed him.
May 4
Burglary: To a residence through a rear door, though the report did not give an address. Stolen were two picture frames and a stand, a small clock and a blanket, for a $160 loss.
May 6
Harassment: A Candywoods Drive girl reported having been harassed.
Dumping: Police received information about an illegal-dumping site in the 3800 block of Farm Avenue.
BOARDMAN
May 4
Theft: Nicholas H. Kovacs, 30, of 25 Millet Ave., Youngstown; Matthew G. Centafanti, 23, of 14009 Mahoning Ave., North Jackson; and Tera L. Tuchek, 21, of 622 N. Hazelwood Ave., Youngstown, were charged with theft or complicity to theft after a 40-inch flat-screen TV was stolen from Walmart. All three were released on summonses.
Vandalism: A backhoe and a bulldozer were damaged in a yard in the 800 block of Mulberry Lane. The estimate was $500.
Theft: Twenty checks and a garage-door opener were removed from a vehicle in the 200 block of Millcreek Drive.
Theft: Police charged Sharese M. Woodbridge, 18, of 2528 Volney Road, Youngstown, with stealing $176 worth of baby clothing from Sears in Southern Park Mall.
Assault/criminal damaging: A Leetonia man at a red light on Western Reserve Road told police an irate motorist punched and shattered his vehicle’s window, striking the accuser and a female passenger with glass fragments.
Harassment: A Robinhood Drive woman reported receiving unwanted text messages and calls.
Domestic violence: Police took into custody 50-year-old Joseph M. Bokros at his home, 1857 Lealand Ave., Poland, and charged him after Bokros’ wife alleged he had threatened to strangle her.
Possible theft: A Youngstown man reported his wallet lost or stolen at a Doral Drive store.
Theft: Prescription medications and clothing were stolen from a car in the 4400 block of Market Street.
Aggravated menacing: A Washington Boulevard man reported a family member and her boyfriend made threatening calls to him from Florida.
Drug paraphernalia: Officers cited 27-year-old Christina K. Wash during a traffic stop near her residence, 842 Cedar Way, Boardman, after saying suspected marijuana residue was in her car and a suspected marijuana pipe was in her purse.
Attempted fraud: A Crimson Trail man told authorities a caller claiming to be issuing new Social Security cards inquired about the accuser’s bank, at which time he hung up.
Menacing: An employee with a South Avenue restaurant said that a co-worker threatened to harm him.
Drugs: Police near Shields Road pulled over 29-year-old Daniel M. Durant, who listed addresses on Lauderdale and Hilton avenues in Youngstown, then cited him on charges of possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia. Three bags of suspected marijuana and a bowl with suspected marijuana residue were found, a report showed.
May 5
Theft: A jacket, a billfold and other items were taken from three cars in the 40 block of Maple Drive.
Theft: A $200 in-dash compact-disc player was removed from a Jeep in the 4500 block of Grover Drive.
Theft: Police charged a 14-year-old East Palestine male with stealing a rubber bracelet from Spencer Gifts in Southern Park Mall. The teen was released to his mother.
Weapon: A traffic stop on South Avenue led to a misdemeanor charge of carrying a concealed weapon against 20-year-old Carmen L. Tejeda, 142 Gladstone St., Campbell, when, police said, a folding knife and a set of brass knuckles were found.
Arrest: Officers responded to an intoxicated person at a Market Street motel, where they charged 49-year-old Richard R. Vecchio with attempted theft, disorderly conduct, obstructing official business, resisting arrest and possession of drug paraphernalia. Vecchio, of 9762 state Route 164, Lisbon, refused to pay a cab fare in full, had a bag of suspected marijuana in his pocket and did not cooperate with them, they said.
Aggravated menacing: A Romaine Avenue girl reported having gotten roughly 200 unwanted calls and text messages, some containing threats.
Arrest: Police pulled over 19-year-old James A. Jones, 541 W. Warren Ave., Youngstown, near Windsor Road before charging him with obstructing official business. Jones lied about his date of birth and provided an incorrect Social Security number, a report said.
Theft: A speaker was removed from a vehicle in the 8400 block of Market Street.
Drugs: A traffic stop on Southern Boulevard led to the arrests of 23-year-old Tyler J. McMaster, 815 Pershing Ave., Warren, and 36-year-old Takia Norman, 1677 Southern Blvd. NW, Warren, on charges of possession of drug paraphernalia. Norman also was charged with possession of dangerous drugs and marijuana when, police said, they found a device commonly used to grind marijuana, two bags of suspected marijuana debris and a prescription pill.
May 6
Drugs: A traffic stop in the 4000 block of Glenwood Avenue resulted in 51-year-old Kingsley E. Harris’ arrest on charges of possession of crack cocaine and drug paraphernalia, as well as operating a vehicle impaired. Harris, of 6321 St. Andrews Drive, Canfield, had a suspected crack pipe and a small chunk of a white material that tested positive for crack cocaine, a report said.
Domestic violence: David J. Martin, 29, was arrested at his residence, 50 Centervale Ave., Boardman, and charged with the crime after Martin’s wife alleged he had pushed her down a flight of steps during an argument. The accuser had a bump on her head and complained of soreness to her hand and elbow, police said.
Criminal damaging: Six landscaping lights, a trampoline pad and other property were damaged or tampered with in a yard in the 3900 block of Loma Vista Drive.
Menacing: A Willow Drive man said he got about 200 unwanted calls.
Theft: A 16-year-old Youngstown male reportedly stole a pair of men’s undergarments and two tank tops from Walmart.
May 7
Domestic violence: Police charged a 14-year-old township male with the crime after the teen’s sister alleged he had punched her right thigh and kicked her stomach during an argument. Also, the boy’s father alleged the teen had tried to strike him.
