Man arrested after Warren Walgreens robbery

Police have arrested a 29-year-old Bristolville man in connection with a 10:48 a.m. Wednesday robbery at Walgreens, 3379 Elm Road NE, that is similar to two Tuesday robberies.
Derek M. Markley of North Park Avenue Extension, was arrested by Warren police near 195 Griswold Street NE after the robbery Wednesday.
An unidentified woman also was taken into custody with Markley but not charged.
A Walgreens employee told police a white male with tattoos on his bald head wearing a red sweatshirt robbed the store, taking about $350 in cash.
At 7:15 p.m. Tuesday, a man in his early 30s described as having a bald head and a tattoo on the left side of his face robbed the CVS pharmacy, 620 East Market St., of $139 in cash, police said.
An employee said the man walked through the aisles, then placed a bottle of water on the counter at the front of the store and casually stated that he had a gun and to hand over the money in the register, police said.
The clerk didn’t see a weapon but handed over the cash.
The suspect then fled out of the store. He was wearing light-colored jeans and ratty tennis shoes, the clerk said.
Officers, including a police dog, were in the area within minutes and searched for the suspect without success. A clear picture of the suspect was obtained from store security.
At 12:19 a.m. later that night, a while male with a similar description robbed the Sheets gas station, 3379 Elm Road NE, just across the street from the Walgreens.
An employees said a white male picked up a water bottle and brought it to the counter, where he told the clerk, “I have a gun, just empty the register. Hand it all to me. I have a gun.”
The man then took the cash and stuffed it into pocket and walked out the door, getting into a white minivan.
