Mill Creek MetroParks will feature kites of all colors, shapes and sizes above the MetroParks Farm on Saturday.

Members of the Ohio Society for the Elevation of Kites and Fly Pittsburgh will display collections and flying skills from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Participants are urged to bring their own kites to share the skies and enter a contest. For information on contests and kite resources, call 330-740-7107. The MetroParks Farm is on state Route 46 across from the Canfield Fairgrounds.

Canfield road closing

CANFIELD

Mahoning County Engineer’s Office is closing Western Reserve Road between Raccoon Road and state Route 46 today.

The road will be closed for 30 days as part of the Western Reserve Phase 4 Project. Traffic will be detoured along Raccoon Road, Leffingwell Road and Route 46.

Mall honors moms

BOARDMAN

Simon Property Group Inc. will celebrate national Mom’s Night Out from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Southern Park Mall. The first 100 guests will receive goody bags with special mall discounts and merchandise samples including perfume, cookies, coffee and more. An Elvis Presley tribute band will provide live entertainment, and food samples will be available from Coney Island Hot Dogs, Auntie Anne’s and others.

All event activities are free and open to moms of all ages. These events, thanks to an alliance with Little Black Dress Vodka, are helping to raise awareness for Dress for Success, an international nonprofit organization to help underprivileged women find jobs and remain employed. Attendees also will have the chance to win a prize.
