Police still seek ID in apparent shooting, crash

LANSDOWNE, Pa. (AP) — Officials are still trying to identify the motorist who was apparently shot before crashing into a Philadelphia-area home, sparking a fire.

The cause of death is still pending but authorities say the man had apparently been shot in the chest at least once before his body was badly burned when he crashed into a Lansdowne home early Sunday.

Delaware County Assistant District Attorney Erica Parham said Monday detectives have been in touch with officials in New Jersey and New York, where the car was registered.

Police who responded to a call for multiple gunshots found the SUV crashed into a burning garage in a narrow alley. Officials believe the crash sparked the blaze.

No other injuries were reported.
