Severe weather hammers and drowns parts of Valley

Youngstown

Severe weather hammered the Mahoning Valley on Monday evening.

Parts of Trumbull County were hit especially hard, with power outages reported in parts of Howland, Girard and Warren. Large hail was reported in Cortland, along with some street flooding.

Girard fire personnel said they lost power around 9:05 p.m., and a dispatcher from Girard Police Department said they were dealing with some flooding from heavy rains earlier in the evening.

A dispatcher in Liberty said they were busy but declined to give any other information.

Howland fire crews reported power outages caused by electrical wires down due to high winds, while Warren personnel said lights continued to flicker on and off throughout the evening.

Police and fire crews in Mahoning County didn’t report any major problems Monday night.
