Superhero fans flock to Free Comic Book Day
BOARDMAN
Kristyn Wolfe, 16, has been a fan of Spiderman — the comic-book character and movies — since the first time her dad took her to a comic-book store when she was 6. The first of three Spiderman movies came out the same year.
Over the years, the Boardman girl’s appreciation for the superhero has grown, including the moral lessons taught by him and his lonely, teenaged alter ego, Peter Parker.
Wolfe says one thing that stuck with her was Peter’s Uncle Ben, saying “With great power comes great responsibility,” which echoes a quote from the Acts of the Apostles in the Bible.
“Those are the kinds of things I want to pass on to my brother,” Wolfe said Saturday as she stood inside Spectrum Comics on Market Street for Free Comic Day.
For more on the event, which coincided with Friday's release of The Avengers movie, read Sunday's Vindicator or Vindy.com.
