McClellan, Rubino to perform at Oakland Center for the Arts

Staff report

YOUNGSTOWN

Fresh off their successful debut at the Metropolitan Room in New York City, Liz Rubino and James McClellan will perform at Oakland Center for the Arts on May 18 and 19.

The cabaret duo will perform highlights from their New York show, including Broadway tunes, in the first half of the show. In the second half, they will stage an updated version of the musical comedy “That Old Moon,” which also will feature Rob Joki and Kristina Terlecki.

“That Old Moon” was last performed at the Oakland in November. It is set in the lounge of a bowling alley in Nashville.

Rubino plays Maureen, who reunites with her former band member and ex-husband, Carl (McClellan), to negotiate the selling of the rights to their one-hit wonder song, “That Old Moon.” To accomplish this, the two must make life-changing decisions involving Maureen’s father (played by Joki) and her new-found friend (Terlecki).

The one-hour show has 14 songs.

For reservations, call H.D. Davis at 330-759-8522, ext. 1, or the Oakland Center at 330-746-0404.

Free CD soundtracks of “That Old Moon” can be picked up at V2 and the Lemon Grove in downtown Youngstown and Johnny’s in Boardman.
