Golden Apple Award winners are announced

The Office of Catholic Schools of the Diocese of Youngstown announced the 2012 winners of the Golden Apple Award.

The 2012 recipients are: Mario Calandros, Reina Coeli/St. Joseph Elementary School, Alliance; Catherine DiRubba, St. Rose Elementary School, Girard; Maureen Kelty, Holy Family Elementary School, Poland; Linda Miller, Our Lady of Peace Elementary School, Canton; Natalie Murphy, St. Paul Elementary School, North Canton; Edward Smith, Cardinal Mooney High School, Youngstown; and Sister Carole von Buelow, St. Louis Elementary School, Louisville.

The Golden Apple Award honors outstanding individuals who teach or are administrators in Catholic schools.

The award includes a cash award of $5,000, a certificate, a Golden Apple paperweight and a Golden Apple lapel pin, which will be given to recipients May 17 at Youngstown Country Club. Stan Boney of WYTV-33 will be master of ceremonies.
