Swap jigsaw puzzles at the library

The Boardman library will host a jigsaw puzzle swap on Wednesday at 5 p.m. Trade off puzzles you’ve completed for ones you’ve yet to conquer. The jigsaw puzzle swap is sponsored by the Friends of PLYMC. For more information, call 330-740-6086.

Screen your blood pressure

The Boardman library will host a blood pressure screening presented by the Mahoning Chapter of the American Red Cross on May 7 from 12:30 to 3 p.m.

Generate leads for your business website

The Boardman library will host BIC: Generating Leads for Your Business Website on May 14 at 6:30 p.m. Tyler Clark, from the Youngstown Business Incubator will present the program. The program will take a step-by-step look at online lead-generation from start to finish.

Create soap at the library

The Boardman library presents Soap! Soap! Soap! on May 24 at 7 p.m. Children of all ages are invited to listen to stories and create a soap craft activity. The program will last one hour and all children will leave with a small soap sample they created. Preschoolers must attend with an adult.

Library presents family story time

The Boardman library will host family story time on May 30 at 10 a.m. Children of all ages are invited to hear stories and play Bingo. Preschoolers must attend with an adult.

Fun Time for 4s and 5s

The Boardman library will host Fun Time for 4s and 5s on May 8, 15 and 22 at 10 a.m. The program will include developmentally-appropriate books, songs, rhymes, finger plays and other activities that will help children, ages 4-5, become successful readers. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Tales and Talk for 2s and 3s

The Boardman library will hosts Baby Brilliant: Tales and Talk for 2s and 3s on May 9, 16 and 23 at 10 a.m. The program will include developmentally-appropriate books, songs, rhymes, finger plays and other activities that will help children, ages 2-3, become successful readers. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Boardman to host middle school concert

The Boardman Middle Schools will present a fifth, sixth and seventh-grade spring band concert on May 30 at 7 p.m. in the Boardman High School Performing Arts Center.

This concert will feature the fifth, sixth and seventh-grade bands combined from both Center and Glenwood middle schools. Admission is $3 for adults, $3 for students and senior citizens and children under 10 are free.

Clothing pantry set for today

A Clothing Pantry will take place today from 10 a.m. to noon at West Side Community Center. The pantry will include free clothing for men, women and children. West Side Community Center is located at 304 Matta Ave.

Libraries closing notice

All libraries in the Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County system will be closed May 13, 27 and 28.

ABWA meeting set Tuesday

The Mill Creek Chapter of American Business Women’s Association will hold a meeting on Tuesday at The Stonebridge Grill and Tavern on Route 224 in Boardman. Networking will be from 6-6:30 p.m. and dinner will follow. The cost is $16.50 and will include chicken, potato, vegetables and brown dessert. On the agenda for the meeting is voting for new officers for the 2012-2013 year and reports on the Chinese auction fundraiser.

Dairy Queen hosts kids cake decorating

The Cornersburg and Austintown Dairy Queens will host Kids Cake Decorating for Mom on Saturday. The Cornersburg location, 3555 S. Meridian Road, will host the event from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and the Austintown location, 146 N. Canfield-Niles Road, will be hosting it from 1 to 4 p.m. A qualified DQ cake decorator will be on hand to assist. Kids can create their own design, add sprinkles, gel, icing and candy or place an edible image of their choice on the cake. This is an open house event. It only takes about 15 minutes to decorate a cake. Call to reserve a spot so the appropriate amount of decorators are available to assist children. Children must be supervised by an adult.

Regional Chamber luncheon set

Cleveland Browns head coach Pat Schurmur will headline a Regional Chamber executive luncheon titled “Football Friday with the Cleveland Browns” on May 18 at the Maronite Center, 1555 S. Meridian Road. Registration, networking and lunch begin at 11:15 a.m., with the program starting at noon.

Schurmur will talk about plans for the 2012-2013 season and be available to field questions about the team, including his take on how the Browns did in the 2012 NFL Draft.

Current and alumni players will be on hand at the luncheon as well as the voice of the Browns, Jim Donovan.

This event is open to Chamber members and nonmembers. Cost is $25 and includes the program, lunch and a Browns souvenir as well as give-a-ways throughout the program.

Baby bargain boutique set

Boardman Park will be hosting its annual Baby Bargain Boutique on May 19 from 9 a.m. to noon at Masters Pavilion. Admission is free. The boutique will have usable baby, children and maternity clothing, toys, books, furniture and much more for children under the age of five. Cindy, owner of Cindy’s Health and Vitality in Warren, will be the guest speaker at The Mahoning Valley Fibromyalgia Support Group’s May 16 meeting at 7 p.m. at Bethel Lutheran Church, 425 Crestview Dr. in Boardman. Anyone with an interest in this topic may attend.

Murder Mystery dinner needs suspects

The Myrddin Winery in Lake Milton will host a Murder Mystery dinner May 25 at 7 p.m. and is searching for people to participate in the show.

Wound Care center relocates

The St. Elizabeth Boardman Wound Care Center has moved to 7010 South Ave., Suite 6 in Boardman. The new office, at the corner of South Avenue and Trailwood Drive, opened this morning and is convenient to Route 224 and Interstate 680, providing easier access for patients than its former DeBartolo Place office.

St. Elizabeth Wound Care Center specializes in providing comprehensive care for chronic, non-healing wounds using the latest treatments and technologies. Treatment is tailored to each patient’s unique needs and requirements, and complements the care provided by the patient’s primary care physician.

The staff consists of physicians who specialize in the treatment of chronic wounds, nurses specially trained to care for patients with these wounds, and experienced technicians.

Eat pasta, support Tyler

A pasta dinner in support of Tyler Branca will be held on May 20 from 11:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. at St. Charles Catholic Church, 7345 Westview Drive. The cost is $9 for adults and $6 for children 10 and under. Dinner includes pasta, meatballs, salad, roll, dessert, coffee, tea and orange drink. Pasta, sauce and meatballs are donated by Cafe Capri.

Branca is a 21-year-old college student who was recently diagnosed with Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma. Monetary donations are also accepted at any First National Bank — just ask for the Tyler Branca Fund.

Italian Fest to be in August

The Greater Youngstown Italian Fest will be held on Aug. 3-5 in downtown Youngstown. The festival is now accepting applications for the Italian Man and Woman of the Year.

Provided as a service to the community, Woman’s Heart Day will take place on May 10 from 6:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Covelli Centre. This annual event features free health screenings, fitness demonstrations, educational presentations on a variety of women’s health issues, cooking demonstrations, refreshments and giveaways.

Among the health screenings offered this year are bone density, lipid panel (cholesterol) and glucose testing, arterial disease assessments, blood pressure readings, vision screenings, body fat measurements and health age assessments.

Registration is required and appointments for lipid panel testing are limited.

Car Trunk and Treasure Sale set

The Ursuline Center Car Trunk and Treasure Sale will be July 14 at 9 a.m. in the parking lot of the Ursuline Center on Shields Road in Canfield. Spaces are now available for cars. The cost for a side-by-side space is $25, but the fee will increase to $30 after June 30. All spaces are first-come, first-served.

The sale will also include food and refreshments on sale as well as a book, bake and furniture sale that be will held inside the center. The sale of pets, firearms and fireworks will not be permitted.

Participate in Ohio Plant Lover’s Tour

The MetroParks is traveling to Ohio Prairie Nursery on May 30 to see native plants best suited for Ohio. The bus will continue on to the American Herb Society and Holden Arboretum for lunch and a tour. The David G. Leach Research Station displaying spectacular rhododendrons is the last stop before a delicious dinner at the Ferrante Winery and Ristorante. Cost is $135 ($95 for FFRG members).
