Cleanup planned at Mahoning-Belmont

WARREN

The Historic Perkins Homestead Neighborhood Association will have a neighborhood cleanup at 9 a.m. Saturday at the corner at Mahoning Avenue and Belmont Street Northeast.

Participants are asked to bring gloves and bags if possible.

Court connects

BROOKFIELD

Eastern District Court recently connected to the Ohio Courts Network, which allows the court to more comprehensively search the background of individuals appearing in the court.

The network allows courts to share pre-sentencing investigations, background checks, protection orders, pre-custody reviews and criminal-history reviews.

Statewide, nearly 220 courts out of 385 are connected to the OCN.

Police respond to detective’s home

AUSTINTOWN

Police were called to the home of Detective Sgt. Kathy Dina.

Police Chief Robert Gavalier declined to elaborate on the situation.

He said when he and other officers arrived, Dina was in her garage.

Dina has been on sick leave and will not return to duty until she’s released by her physician, Gavalier said.

Free gardening class at Packard Park

WARREN

Friends of the Greenhouse Consortium in collaboration with Trumbull Neighborhood Partnership Grow Program will have a free gardening class for the public from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at the Packard Park Greenhouse.

The first class will focus on basics and will be followed by classes at 10 a.m. May 19, 26, June 2 and 16.
