YOUNGSTOWN

Eastgate Regional Council of Governments will have a presentation about MATS Connecting Communities Planning Grant Program at 7 p.m. Thursday.

The program will be at Eastgate’s offices in the City Centre One building, 100 E. Federal St. The presentation will be about the Akron Metropolitan Transportation Study’s Connecting Communities Planning Grant program to provide ideas for Eastgate, local municipalities and community groups to collaborate on enhancing neighborhoods and transportation networks.

Crime group meets

Youngstown

The Mahoning Valley Task Force on Crime and Violence Prevention will meet from 9 to 10 a.m. Friday in Youngstown City Council’s chambers, sixth floor, City Hall, 26 S. Phelps St.

Enzo Cantalamessa, Warren’s new safety-service director, will speak about crime and safety in Warren and how the cities of Youngstown and Warren can work together. The meeting is open to the public.

Coit Road to close

POLAND

The Mahoning County Engineer’s office will close Coit Road between state Route 616 and New Castle Road from next Tuesday through Friday. The closure is to replace two culverts. Traffic will be detoured along Route 616, state Route 289 and New Castle Road.

The fourth annual Charity Clinic Day to benefit the Bummer Fund will be from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday at Animal Care Hospital, 47 Hall Ave.

The Bummer Fund, a nonprofit organization in Mahoning, Trumbull and Columbiana counties, provides financial assistance to responsible and qualified pet owners in times of financial and medical crisis.

During the clinic, regular-price veterinary exams and procedures such as nail trims, ear cleaning and vaccinations will be done by appointment. Proceeds will be donated to the Bummer Fund. A raffle of gift baskets also will be conducted. For an appointment, call 330-534-2000. Attending veterinarian is Dr. Charles Sung.

Eastwood art show

Niles

The Sixth Annual School Art Exhibition begins Friday.

The art show, which is at the Art Outreach Gallery in Eastwood Mall, features artwork by local students in kindergarten through grade 12.

Students from Warren and Howland school districts and the Trumbull County Career and Technical Center will be featured from Friday to May 20.

The gallery is free and is located next to Daffin’s Candies, along the concourse between Macy’s and Sears. Gallery hours are Friday 5 to 9 p.m., Saturday 1 to 9 p.m. and Sunday 1 to 5 p.m. MORE DIGEST, A5
