Pittsburgh bee problem solved

PITTSBURGH (AP) — Downtown Pittsburgh was buzzing more than usual until a beekeeper arrived to herd a swarm of the flying insects from a light pole.

WPXI-TV reports today that the incident occurred during Monday evening’s rush hour on Wood Street, a busy side street.

The beekeeper used honey and wax to lure thousands of Italian honeybees into a sack and once their queen entered the rest of the bees followed. They were taken to a professionally run hive on the city’s North Side.

Witness Robert Berry tells says the incident “looked like a scene out of the movie ‘Swarm.’ It was so dark you couldn’t hardly see across the street.”
