OSHP more focused on catching impaired drivers

SOUTHINGTON

Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers are focused on removing impaired drivers more than ever before, according to a news release. In March, troopers arrested 503 more drivers for operating a vehicle under the influence than during the same period in 2011.

OVI-related fatal crashes are down 28 percent through March of this year. Impaired drivers were responsible for 40 percent of the fatal crashes in 2011, the patrol said.

People can call #677 to report impaired drivers or drug activity, said the post’s Lt. Brian Holt.
