Man pleads guilty to drug charges

PITTSBURGH

A 32-year-old Farrell, Pa., man has pleaded guilty to a federal crack-cocaine-distribution charge. The defendant, Michael Vincent Talbert, faces between five and 40 years in prison and a fine of up to $5 million when he is sentenced Aug. 31 by Chief U.S. District Judge Gary L. Lancaster. The offenses occurred in 2007 and 2008, the U.S. attorney said. The case was investigated by the FBI, Pennsylvania State Police, the Pennsylvania attorney general’s office, the Mercer County Drug Task Force, and Sharon and Southwest Regional Police.

Suspect arrested in armored-car heist

A man charged with stealing $2 million from an armored car he was paid to guard in Pittsburgh and fatally shooting his fellow guard before fleeing with the money has been arrested in a crack house.

Kenneth J. Konias Jr., 22, who had been listed among the five suspects most-wanted by the FBI Violent Crimes Task Force in Youngs- town, is scheduled to appear this morning before a U.S. magistrate in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., on federal charges of robbery affecting interstate commerce and using a gun in a violent crime.

Pittsburgh police also have charged Konias with criminal homicide in the death of Michael Haines, theft by unlawful taking and robbery in the Feb. 28 incident.

Pizza-delivery driver is robbed

A pizza-delivery driver was robbed about 10:30 p.m. Sunday by a man who pointed an assault rifle at her, she told Campbell police.

The driver, 20, was delivering a pizza to a Kendall Avenue apartment when a man came from around the building and robbed her of $94.

The apartment resident said he did not order a pizza.
