Items seized in Operation Shield displayed at South Side annex

YOUNGSTOWN — The Youngstown Police Department and Ohio State Highway Patrol will have a joint press conference on Operation Shield at 12:30 p.m. today on the second floor of the Mahoning County Annex, 2801 Market St., and will display items seized during the two-day enforcement blitz last week on known violent offenders and gangs.

Law-enforcement officials made 48 arrests, conducted 407 traffic stops, made 14 arrests for driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol, and used eight search warrants to look for incriminating evidence.
