A summary of recent criminal activity in Girard and Liberty:
GIRARD
March 24
Arrest: Acting on a tip, police apprehended Robert A. Prodnick, 28, at a Girard restaurant. Prodnick, of 426 Joan St., Girard, was wanted on an outstanding warrant.
Assault: Authorities quelled a fight among seven females on East Main Street, where a 17-year-old girl reported having been attacked. The teen had scratches to her face and chin as well as bruises.
Theft/damage: Someone in the 500 block of Stull Avenue broke a vehicle’s passenger-side window and removed a compact-disc player.
March 25
Aggravated assault: A Smithsonian Street man reported having been shot in the back with a plastic BB.
Theft: A $600 in-dash stereo system was removed from a car in the 800 block of Beechwood Drive.
Drugs: Authorities responded to a suspicious vehicle in the 100 block of East Second Street and found a cigar wrapper with suspected marijuana. Three juveniles were taken to the police station, then released to the custody of their parents.
Aggravated menacing: While dealing with a fight near South Market Street, police were told that several males had approached and, unprovoked, threatened others with knives and machetes. No one was hurt, however.
Arrest: Officers on U.S. Route 422 picked up 26-year-old Robert Blair, 156 E. Main St., Girard, who was wanted on several warrants from Girard Municipal Court.
March 26
Burglary: Occurred in the 500 block of North State Street via a rear door. An $800 Sony PlayStation 3 system was taken.
Breaking and entering: Someone entered a garage in the 300 block of East Wilson Avenue and removed $950 worth of tools and gardening equipment.
LIBERTY
March 20
Weapon: A man in the 4800 block of Sampson Road reported someone had shot at his home. Police found two bullet holes in the front of the residence and four 9 mm shell casings nearby, they said.
March 23
Drugs: Officers on Logan Way pulled over James E. Phillips, 32, of 1619 Rosewood Lane, Youngstown, and charged him with marijuana possession and driving under suspension. Two bags of suspected marijuana were found, a report showed.
Assault: A 17-year-old North Gate Road girl told police a woman, 36, punched her multiple times in the face. She suffered a bloody nose.
Attempted fraud: A Shannon Road man reported a suspicious caller claimed the accuser had been selected as the recipient of a $7,000 federal grant and asked for personal information, which he refused to provide.
Menacing: A Lucretia Drive man reported hearing secondhand that a neighbor had threatened to shoot him as part of an ongoing feud, though the neighbor denied making the statement and being in possession of a firearm.
Trespassing: Authorities responded to two suspicious men in a burned-out building in the 3000 block of Green Acres Drive before charging 50-year-old Glenn Mosley, 3031 North Gate Drive, Liberty, with criminal trespassing and citing 25-year-old Alvin Tucker Jr., 356 Euclid Ave., Liberty, on the same charge. Mosley also was wanted on a warrant accusing him of failing to appear in court.
Identity fraud: A Gypsy Lane man learned that someone had filed for and received a refund from the accuser’s 2009 federal income-tax return.
March 24
Domestic violence: A 13-year-old Girard boy was charged after his mother alleged the boy had struck his sister, causing a bloody lip, during an argument regarding a cellphone. He admitted the crime, a report said.
Burglary: Took place in the 1700 block of Naylor-Lloyd Road, though police found no signs of forced entry. Stolen were a 46-inch flat-screen TV, an Xbox 360 system, various Xbox games and other property, for an estimated $3,390 loss.
Drugs: A traffic stop on Colonial Drive led to 45-year-old Paul E. Black’s arrest on charges of possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Black, of 3011 Biscayne Drive, Liberty, had in his pocket a bag containing 5 grams of suspected marijuana, as well as a suspected marijuana pipe, police said.
March 25
Theft: A woman reported her wallet missing while at a Liberty Plaza store.
Burglary: To a residence in the 2600 block of Homestead Avenue through a rear window. Three firearms, a $1,000 baseball-card collection, jewelry and other items were missing, for a $3,476 loss.
March 26
Arrest: Larissa Kulscar, 27, of 2009 Elberen St., Youngstown, was arrested at the Mahoning County jail on a felony-escape charge and taken to the Trumbull County Jail.
Possible child endangerment: An official with Akron Children’s Hospital in Boardman reported a 6-month-old infant of a Liberty woman was brought to the facility with a suspicious fracture on his right side. Trumbull County Children Services Board was contacted.
