Canfield bands earn superior ratings

The Canfield High School Concert and Symphonic Bands both received Superior ratings for their performances at the Ohio Music Education Association (OMEA) District 6 Band Contest March 9-10 at Copley High School.

Each band performed in front of a panel of four adjudicators who gave a rating from “I” or “Superior” to “V” or “Very Poor.”

For the fourth straight year, both bands earned a Superior rating which qualifies them for State Band Contest April 27 or 28 at North Royalton High School. This marks the seventh consecutive year the Symphonic Band has qualified for state, while the Concert Band has earned a state appearance five of the last seven years.

Further, of the 19 bands that performed at Copley High School, only eight earned an overall Superior rating. Of the eight Superior ratings, there were only three bands to earn straight Superior ratings or a perfect score. Canfield High School Bands took two of the three perfect scores.
