Valley home-sales figures for February are mixed

Results of Mahoning Valley home sales and sale prices continued to be mixed during February.

Home sales in the three-county area totaled 267 in February, up 9 percent compared with February 2011, when the association registered 244 sales.

Sales in Trumbull and Columbiana counties rose compared with the same month a year ago, and the average home-sale price increased in Columbiana and Mahoning counties.

Mahoning County home sales, however, fell from 111 in February 2011 to 105 this February. The average home-sale price rose from $77,518 to $79,461.

In Trumbull County, home sales rose from 97 last February to 112 this February. The average home-sale price declined from $74,264 to $66,873.

In Columbiana County, home sales increased from 36 to 50, and the average home-sale price skyrocketed from $58,537 to $81,872.

For the first two months of 2012, home sales in the Valley are up about 16 percent.
