Police: Family bound, man killed in home invasion

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Police say assailants burst into a Philadelphia house, tied up five people including a young girl and fatally shot a man in a late-night home-invasion robbery.

Investigators say the robbery happened late Wednesday in the city’s Fairhill neighborhood. Authorities say a group of men in masks broke into the home and tied up four adults and a six-year-old girl before shooting a 36-year-old man in the head.

The assailants took items and cash from the home before fleeing.

WPVI-TV reports the girl was the slain man’s niece. Officials did not release the names of the victims.
