Neighbors pulled a 51-year-old woman from her burning house Thursday, saving her life, according to the city fire department. When firefighters arrived at 487 A St., the victim, Shirley Guthrie, already was at the curb with neighbors. Firefighters believe the fire started beneath the chair on which she was sitting, and does not appear to be suspicious. Farrell Fire Department also responded. Guthrie, who uses oxygen, suffered a burn to the left hand, and cuts and bruises but refused to be taken to the hospital for treatment. The fire department said the American Red Cross is assisting Guthrie.
