Neighbors save woman from burning house in Sharon

SHARON, Pa.

Neighbors pulled a 51-year-old woman from her burning house Thursday, saving her life, according to the city fire department.

When firefighters arrived at 487 A St., the victim, Shirley Guthrie, was already at the curb with neighbors.

Firefighters believe the fire started beneath the chair on which she was sitting, and does not appear to be suspicious.

Farrell Fire Department also responded to the blaze.

Guthrie, who uses oxygen, suffered a burn to the left hand, and cuts and bruises but refused to be taken to the hospital for treatment.

The fire department said the Red Cross is assisting Guthrie.
