Ohio transgender student charges discrimination
OXFORD, Ohio (AP) — A student who has switched gender identity from female to a male is charging housing discrimination by a southwest Ohio university.
Multiple media outlets report that Miami University student Kaeden Kass filed a discrimination complaint with the university saying he should be in a dormitory suite with males but was assigned to a female one.
Media outlets report Kass says he is listed as female on his birth certificate but is now living as a man.
Kass says university officials indicated they were going with the gender on Kass’ legal records. Kass could not immediately be reached today.
A university spokeswoman says she cannot confirm whether a complaint was filed or comment specifically because of student privacy restrictions. She says Miami does offer some gender-neutral housing spaces.
