Niles woman faces soliciting charge

NILES

An 18-year-old Niles woman has been charged with soliciting for prostitution after Niles police received a complaint regarding an advertisement on the Internet and conducted a covert investigation.

Kassandra M. Ivinskas of North Chestnut Street is due in Niles Municipal Court at 8:30 a.m. April 16 to face the third-degree misdemeanor charge. It carries a possible penalty of 60 days in jail.

Detective Jim Robbins said a detective called the phone number associated with the advertisement and posed as a customer. He made arrangements to meet Ivinskas in a Niles business parking lot Friday afternoon.

The woman incriminated herself on the telephone, Robbins said. During the meeting, the detective issued Ivinskas a summons to appear in court on the charge.

Robbins said it had been a “long time” since a complaint regarding prostitution in Niles had been received before this one.

“Hopefully this will nip it in the bud,” Robbins said.
