AUCTIONS

St. Joseph the Provider Church, 633 Porter Ave., Campbell, will have a basket auction Sunday. Doors will open at 10 a.m. and the auction will start at 2 p.m. Early bird prizes will be awarded every 15 minutes beginning at 12:30 p.m., and there also will be door prizes. The cost of admission is $5 and includes 20 tickets. Extra sheets of tickets are sold inside. Children under 5 are admitted free. Attendees get a free bowl of haluski and a piece of cake.

Cortland United Methodist Church, 155 N. High St., will have a used book sale from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday and from 9 to 1 Saturday, when it will be $2 a bag all day. There will be gently used books, magazines, puzzles, videos, DVDs and CDs. There also will be a bake sale. The event is sponsored by The Cortland United Methodist Women.

Salem Public Library is announcing its Spring Used Book Sale from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday in the gymnasium at St. Paul School, 925 E. State St., Salem (next door to the library). The sale will include fiction and nonfiction books in regular and large print format, magazines and a large selection of picture books. The sale is sponsored by the library’s Memorial Fund Association, and proceeds support the library. For information call the library at 330-332-0042.

CARD, BINGO PARTIES

Our Lady of Mount Carmel, Mother of Crucifix, will sponsor a bingo and card party at 3 p.m. Sunday at the social hall, 343 Via Mount Carmel Ave., Youngstown. The donation is $6.

St. Jude Church, 180 Seventh St., Columbiana, will sponsor a super bingo April 1. Doors will open at 12:30 p.m. for early birds, seating and lunch, and games begin at 2. The $25 donation entitles players to free daubers, coffee and pop throughout the day, cards for all games (except specials) and a chance to win $3,400 in cash prizes, including a $1,000 guaranteed coverall. There also will be a lunch counter and goodies sale.

Trumbull County Federated Democratic Women’s Club will have its annual card party from 2 to 5 p.m. April 22 in the parish hall at Christ Episcopal Church, 2627 Atlantic St., N.E., Warren. Warren Republican Women’s Club is announcing its annual card party from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. March 31 at McMenemy’s Banquet Center, 235 Youngstown-Warren Road, Niles. CRAFT SHOWS

Canfield Lions will have its annual Craft, Antique and Quilt Show from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at Canfield High School, 100 Cardinal Drive. Admission is free, and hot food will be available, there will be a basket auction and a 50-50 raffle.

The Ladies of St. Maron Church, 1555 S. Meridian Road, are looking for vendors as they prepare for their first fall Craft, Antique and Flea Market. Austintown Community Church Preschool Childcare Center will host its annual “Trash & Treasure” sale from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. March 31 in the upstairs auditorium of the Education Wing at Austintown Community Church, 242 S. FUNDRAISERS

Canfield Welcome Wagon will host a “Murder Mystery Dinner Theater” at 6 p.m. Friday at Antone’s Banquet Center in Boardman. The event includes dinner and a live performance, and there also will be silent and basket auctions. Tickets are $50 and proceeds will benefit as many as two dozen local charities. The party is open to all Austintown residents and will run from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. There will be cash prizes awarded to the top eaters of a hot dog eating contest with three age groups: 8-12; 13-17; and 18-up. SPECIAL EVENTS

Hermitage Lions Club will sponsor a prom gown giveaway from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday March 21 at the Sharon American Legion, 1395 E. State St., Sharon, Pa. The event is free to girls who meet income guidelines and are accompanied by a parent or guardian who can show a photo ID and an ACCESS or county assistance card as proof of income. TRIPS

A&C Friendship Tours will sponsor a day trip to a taping of the “Cash Explosion”: show in Columbus on April 4. A bus trip to the Haufbrau Haus in Pittsburgh is planned March 24. The bus will leave at 10:30 a.m. from the Slovenian Home, 1037 Baldwin Ave., Sharon, Pa. Mineral Ridge Alumni Association Banquet Committee is sponsoring a bus trip to The Meadows Casino Friday April 20. The cost is $30 with bonuses of $15 in slot play and $5 in food. The bus will load at 9 a.m. and leave at 9:30 from First Presbyterian Church, 3654 state Route 46, Mineral Ridge. The Niles Chapter of the American Sewing Guild is sponsoring a bus trip to the Cleveland Sewing Expo at the I-X Center on March 30. Pickups will be at Austintown J.C. Penney at 6:30 a.m., Niles Super K at 7 a.m. and Champion Big Lots at 7:15 a.m. Arrival at the Expo will be by 9 a.m. and departure from there will be 6:15.
