When “Dancing With the Stars” returns Monday night, the celebrity dancers will include actor Jaleel White, who’s best known for his role as uber-nerd Steve Urkel on the ABC comedy “Family Matters” (1990-98). Here are five things to know about the character with the hiked-up trousers and super-size specs:

v Name: His middle name is Quincy.

v Family: He has a gangster cousin from Detroit named Cornelius Eugene Urkel (also played by White) whose nickname was “Original Gangsta Dawg.”

v Alter ego: Using a serum called “cool juice,” he transformed himself into the smooth, sophisticated Stefan Urquelle (a ploy to win the heart of his longtime crush, Laura Winslow).

v Appearance: He made a guest appearance on a 1991 episode of “Full House.” The plot: Urkel was enlisted to help Stephanie Tanner (Jodie Sweetin) deal with her nervousness about getting glasses.

v Multilingual: He is fluent in Japanese and Korean.

“FROZEN PLANET” (8 p.m., Discovery): There’s no better way to chill out than with this breathtaking seven-part documentary series that provides an up-close-and-intimate view of wildlife in the Arctic and Antarctic. A follow-up to the international nature hits “Planet Earth” (2006) and “Life” (2009), “Frozen Planet” was filmed over four years by camera crews who meticulously captured hours of spectacular footage amid icy terrain. Episode 1, “The Ends of the Earth,” introduces viewers to surfing penguins, courting polar bears and hunting whales. Alec Baldwin narrates.

“Once Upon a Time” (8 p.m., ABC): Maybe Snow White (Ginnifer Goodwin) isn’t the Miss Goody Two Shoes we thought she was. On “Once Upon a Time” tonight, her Storybrooke incarnation gets arrested in connection with Kathryn’s murder. And in the fairy tale world, she sets out to kill the Evil Queen.

“The Good Wife” (9 p.m., cbs): We certainly have no objection to the return of Michael J. Fox on “The Good Wife.” His character, shrewd attorney Louis Canning, is back to take on Alicia (Julianna Margulies) in court, where their spirited battles always make for good TV.

“The Walking Dead” (9 p.m., AMC): The bodies just keep piling up on “The Walking Dead,” which wraps up its riveting second season with more death and gruesome zombie destruction. Our advice: Don’t watch on a full stomach.

Conneaut Lake Park gets historic status

Conneaut Lake, Pa.

Now in its 120th year, Conneaut Lake Park has been deemed a National Register Historic District by the Pennsylvania Historical & Museum Commission. The PHMC’s goal is to preserve the state’s heritage.

The status allows the amusement park to apply for a $25,000 PHMC grant for the Blue Streak roller coaster renovation project. Recipients will be named later this year.

Conneaut Lake Park is tied for 10th oldest operating amusement park in the nation. It has won awards from American Coaster Enthusiasts and the National Carousel Association.
