POLICE CALLS

A summary of recent criminal activity in Poland and Boardman townships:

POLAND

March 6

Burglary: Township police at Struthers Municipal Court arrested 52-year-old Nicholas J. Drajik, 10257 Main St., New Middletown, on a burglary charge.

March 8

Criminal damaging: Eight feet of vinyl siding and a window were damaged at a residence in the 5100 block of Fifth Street.

March 9

Assault: Police responded to a fight between two male students, 15 and 16, at Poland Seminary High School, 3199 Dobbins Road.

March 11

Criminal damaging: Someone damaged two 8-foot countertops and two electric boxes at a pavilion in the 2900 block of Center Road.

BOARDMAN

March 9

Attempted burglary: Someone tried to enter a home in the 4600 block of Rush Circle through a rear sliding-glass door.

Arrest: Police responded to a dispute at a South Avenue motel, where they charged 40-year-old David K. Lewis of Carrollton with disorderly conduct and failure to desist. Lewis became agitated and used profanities in front of children and toward police after refusing several times to calm down, a report said.

Theft: Kelly L. Fleeson, 18, of 403 Roosevelt Ave., Bessemer, Pa., and a 16-year-old New Wilmington, Pa., girl were charged with stealing $55 worth of women’s apparel from Walmart, 1300 Doral Drive. Fleeson also was charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

Theft: Two 16-year-old Youngstown girls and a township girl, 17, were charged in the theft of cosmetics, a pregnancy-test kit, candy and energy drinks from Walmart. All three were released to the custody of a sister of one of the girls.

Forgery: A Youngstown man at a South Avenue bank found out two personal checks had been cashed electronically without authorization.

Theft: A Reserve Court woman told police her husband transferred money to buy a motorcycle for $11,500 but never received the vehicle.

Assault: A Salineville man told police that after dropping off his 6-year-old daughter to visit a family member in the 100 block of Stadler Court, the girl reported a neighbor had struck her.

Criminal damaging: A truck in the 800 block of Park Harbour Drive was found with a scratch to its driver’s-side door.

Harassment: A customer reportedly made about 30 such calls to a West Boulevard business regarding an appointment.

Criminal damaging: A rock was used to break a window to a home in the 20 block of Clifton Drive and do about $200 in damage.

Burglary: Someone broke into a garage in the 4600 block of Rush Circle, then tried unsuccessfully to enter the residence.

March 10

Weapon: A traffic stop on state Route 7 resulted in 29-year-old Glenroy L. Dillon’s arrest on charges of carrying a concealed weapon, obstructing official business and resisting arrest. Dillon, of 1460 Yankee Run Drive, Masury, had a folding knife and refused to identify himself and cooperate, police said.

Theft: A Canfield woman reported the theft of her $100 cellphone at a Boardman-Poland Road eatery.

Assault: Two juveniles reported having been shot with an air gun in the 7300 blocks of Sierra Madre and Salinas trails. One teen had a welt on his left forearm.

March 11

Arrest: Authorities conducting an investigation in the 7100 block of Glendale Avenue took into custody 21-year-old Jennifer T. Johnson, 720 Kendis Circle, Youngstown, on three misdemeanor warrants. She faced two counts of menacing and one of domestic violence.

Burglary: To an apartment in the 6300 block of South Avenue. Several items were disturbed.

Theft: A Youngstown woman reported a $200 wedding band stolen from a restroom at the Southern Park Mall.

Theft: The front license plate was stolen off a vehicle in the 100 block of Carter Circle.

Theft/vandalism: Fifteen trucks at R&J Truck & Auto Body Inc., 8063 Southern Blvd., were broken into. Numerous citizens-band radios were removed from the vehicles.

Theft: A man stole a sewer grate from a parking lot in the 500 block of East Midlothian Boulevard.

Theft: A woman in her 50s stole 17 boxes of condoms from Walgreens Pharmacy, 7295 Market St.

March 12

Drugs: Police stopped 58-year-old William R. Watson on a bicycle near Southern Boulevard then charged him with one felony drug-possession count. Watson, of 8250 Southern Blvd., had an Oxycodone pill in a backpack, a report showed.

Impersonation: A man walking his dog on Devonshire Drive told officers a man dressed in black with a black baseball cap showed him a phony badge and pretended to be a police officer.

Possible identity fraud: A Willow Drive woman reported getting a letter claiming she was leasing a vehicle from a Cortland car dealership and, after making an inquiry, concluded someone had used the accuser’s name and address without her consent.

Theft/criminal mischief: A Boardman-Canfield Road woman discovered someone had siphoned gasoline from her car and damaged a latch to the gas tank.

Criminal damaging: A vehicle at a South Avenue motel sustained several scratches.

Assault: A worker for a Simon Road business told officers he had been shoved into a wall while at work. The employee complained of pain in his right elbow.

Theft: A man stole two pairs of headphones from AT&T, 451 Boardman-Canfield Road.

Bad check: Authorities booked 22-year-old Stephanie A. McCourt, 6306 Elk Road, Canfield, on a charge of passing a bad check after a $390 fraudulent check had been passed at Checksmart, 112 Boardman-Poland Road. McCourt also was wanted on a warrant from Austintown charging her with forgery.

Arrest: A fight between two women in the 5900 block of Market Street led to the arrest of Angela K. Rogers-Sanders, 50, of 50 Pinehurst St., Youngstown, on charges of obstructing official business and resisting arrest. Rogers-Sanders, who is a family member of one of the combatants, hampered the investigation and refused to cooperate, police said.

Domestic violence: Authorities charged Earline D. Gilford-Weaver, 53, of 3958 S. Schenley Ave., Boardman, with the crime after her husband alleged Gilford-Weaver had punched his head and made a statement implying he should die.

Drugs: James L. Patterson, 26, of 430 Division St., Youngstown, faced felony counts of trafficking in and possession of drugs as well as misdemeanor charges of obstructing official business, resisting arrest and possession of drug paraphernalia after authorities stopped him on Applecrest Court. Patterson, who ran from police, had 16 grams of suspected heroin, 2 grams of suspected cocaine and a bag of suspected marijuana, a report said.
