Shark bites man in arm off Fla.’s east coast

JENSEN BEACH, Fla. (AP) — A man was bitten in the arm by a shark off Florida’s eastern coast amid several reports of sharks in water.

Martin County officials say a bull shark bit the man multiple times in the arm Thursday afternoon. His injuries were not life-threatening.

Lifeguards had called swimmers and surfers out of the water at Jensen Public Beach Thursday — twice — after sharks were spotted in the area. Beachgoers waited about half an hour before returning to the water.

Sharks have already been spotted in other parts of Florida this beach season. In Volusia County, a teenage boy and a young girl suffered bites within five minutes of each other Wednesday afternoon. In Brevard County, a man was bitten on the Canaveral National Seashore earlier this month.
