SC mom pleads guilty to murder in sons’ deaths
ORANGEBURG, S.C. (AP) — A South Carolina mother has pleaded guilty to two counts of murder in the deaths of her two young sons whose bodies were found in a car in a river in 2010.
Shaquan Duley pleaded guilty in court in Orangeburg this morning.
Prosecutors say there was no deal with Duley. She faces between 30 years in prison and a life term when she’s sentenced later in the day.
The bodies of 2-year-old Devean and 18-month-old J a’van were found in the Edisto River on August 16, 2010. Duley initially told police she fell asleep at the wheel before the car went into the river about 40 miles south of Columbia.
Police later determined the boys were suffocated in a motel.
