Penn National, Ohio move ahead on Austintown racino

Columbus

Penn National Gaming, Inc. and the state of Ohio reached an agreement today on the development of approximately $200 million in racetrack/video lottery terminal facilities in Austintown and Dayton.

The non-binding Memorandum of Understanding between the company and the office of Ohio Gov. John Kasich requires Penn National to pay a $75 million relocation fee per VLT facility within 180 days after each facility opens, according to a news release issued Friday by Penn National.

The company previously announced its intent to relocate Beulah Park from the Columbus suburb of Grove City to Austintown and Raceway Park from Toledo to Dayton.

The agreement is based on the assumption that the state will authorize VLTs at Ohio racetracks, and a favorable resolution of the current litigation challenging the establishment of VLT facilities in Ohio, the news release said.
