Buy coffee, help out Second Harvest

Panera Bread is donating 25 cents to Second Harvest Food Bank of the Mahoning Valley for every cup of coffee sold during the food bank’s Harvest for Hunger campaign in March. Customers also can help by making donations through Panera Bread’s Operation Dough-Nation community cashbox located at the cash registers of participating caf s in Austintown, Boardman, Canfield, Niles, Warren and Hermitage, Pa.

Training classes

The American Red Cross of the Mahoning Valley is offering Adult CPR/AED training classes in March.

St. Luke’s School, 5225 South Ave., is offering CPR/AED training for Professional Rescuers and Health Care Providers on March 31 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The cost is $75. To register call Jolene at 330-770-7165.
Check Out Hunger

Through April 7, Sparkle Market customers can help feed hungry families in Columbiana, Mahoning and Trumbull counties by participating in the Second Harvest Food Bank of the Mahoning Valley’s Check Out Hunger program during the food bank’s Harvest for Hunger campaign. Customers will be asked to tear off a $1, $5 or $10 coupon available at the register that will be added to their bill.
Customers may also donate nonperishable food items by placing them in the collection containers located in the front of the store. Cochran and Boardman Sparkle Markets are accepting only nonperishable food items.
Grant awarded

The Episcopal Community Services Development Council of the Episcopal Diocese of Ohio awarded Help Hotline Crisis Center a $2,631 grant for outreach to homeless children.
The program, sponsored locally by St. John’s Episcopal Church in Youngstown, is operated in conjunction with Potential Development, which will assist parents and caregivers with weekly parent groups and individualized educational services for children in need of special services provided by Potential Development.
$12K raised for ‘Kids’

Area Eat ’n Park Restaurants raised $12,625 for Akron Children’s Hospital Mahoning Valley through their annual “Caring for Kids” Campaign during the past holiday season. Executives from Eat ’n Park’s corporate office presented a check to representatives of Akron Children’s at the Austintown Eat ‘n Park at 5451 Mahoning Ave. The donation represents money raised at area Eat ’n Park restaurants in Austintown, Boardman and Warren locations.
