The 34west Theater Company will present the all-new ’50s musical “Doo Wops and Beauty Shops” at Dutch Village Inn on March 21-24, April 18-21 and May 9-12, with weekday matinees included.

The play takes place in Sally’s Shearly Delicious Hair Salon. When a vehicle carrying the legendary Doo Woppers breaks down, Sally enlists friends and a visiting soap-opera star to keep the town’s most anticipated baby shower hopping.

“This show just makes you smile,” said Jeff Querin, artistic director. “It’s chock full of laughs and golden oldies.”

The newest musical by award-winning 34west, “Doo Wops and Beauty Shops” features such hits as “At the Hop” and “Blue Moon.” Querin said that many families are reserving tickets. “There’s a whole new generation that loves this genre,” he said. “It’s become something the whole family can share together.”

Featured in the ensemble are 34west actors Querin, Stephen Wayne, Maria Householder and Rebecca Whittenberger. “The show’s a whirlwind,” said Querin. “We all play multiple roles, which adds to the electricity of the night as we’re singing and acting and having a great time.”

Along with the show, Dutch Village Inn provides a four-course buffet-style dinner with a variety of fine desserts and a low-sugar option. Groups can sit eight or 10 persons to a table.

Dutch Village is at 150 E. state Route 15. Seating for evening shows begins at 6:45 p.m., with the meal at 7 p.m. Seating for matinees begins at 11:45 a.m., with the meal at noon.
