BEAUMONT, Texas (AP) — Police say one person has been killed and three others wounded after a gunman opened fire in front of a Southeast Texas courthouse.

Beaumont police say the man suspected in today’s shootings near the Jefferson County Courthouse has been injured and captured.

Officer Doug Kibodeaux declined to identify the suspect. Kibodeaux says the suspect was going to court with his family this morning when he opened fire and shot several rounds. Kibodeaux did not immediately say whether any of the victims were related to the suspect.

KFDM-TV reports emergency personnel this afternoon surrounded the downtown courthouse, located near the Port of Beaumont. The courthouse was locked down.

Beaumont is about 80 miles east of Houston.
