McDonald BOE hires interim district treasurer

The board of education Monday approved hiring Lori Simione, treasurer of the Trumbull County Educational Service Center, as interim district treasurer.

Simione will work for 10 days at no charge for the district starting Friday, after current treasurer Brian Stidham works his last day Thursday. Stidham has been hired as treasurer in the Matthews school district.

After the first 10 days, Simione will be paid $350 a day up to 24 days, not to exceed $8,400.

There were eight applicants for the position.

The board also approved rehiring high school principal Gary Carkido under a new three-year contract from Aug. 1, 2012, to July 31, 2015. He will make his current salary of $71,500 per year.

The board also accepted a donation of $5,000 from the Construction Labor Group of Richfield, Ohio, to the football fundraising account.
