Washington, Seton Hall are top seeds for NIT

Washington and Seton Hall are No. 1 seeds in the NIT after they were left out of the NCAA tournament.
Tennessee and Arizona also received top seeds Sunday night for the 75th NIT, which begins Tuesday and concludes with the March 29 championship game at Madison Square Garden. Drexel, snubbed by the NCAA selection committee, got a No. 3 seed.
Other notable teams in the 32-team field are Miami, Mississippi State, Northwestern, Nevada and Oral Roberts.
Northwestern (18-13) plays host to Akron (22-11) of the Mid-American Conference on Tuesday at 9 p.m.
Horizon League regular-season champion Valparaiso (22-11) plays on Wednesday at Miami (Fla.).
Drexel (27-6) and Oral Roberts (27-6) had the most wins among teams not chosen for the 68-team NCAA tournament.
Washington finished atop the Pac-12 standings but became the first team to win a regular-season title in a power conference and miss the NCAA tournament. The Huskies (21-10) lost to Oregon State 86-84 in the quarterfinals of the Pac-12 tournament.
CBI
Butler and Milwaukee of the Horizon League are among the 16 teams chose for the College Basketball Invitational. Milwaukee visits TCU on Tuesday, and Butler hosts Delaware on Wednesday.
CIT
Kent State (21-11) was among four Mid-American Conference teams in the CollegeInsder.com tournament.
The Golden Flashes will play at USC-Upstate (20-12) on Thursday at 7 p.m.
Other MAC schools chosen were Bowling Green (16-15), which will play at Oakland, Mich. (17-15); Buffalo (19-10), which will visit American (20-11), both on Wednesday. Toledo (18-16) will play host to McNeese State (17-15) on Tuesday.
