Friday: The Hartford native turned a fast lap of 183.949 and qualified in 38th position for today’s Kobalt Tools 400 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

Season to date: Blaney is 16th in the Sprint Cup standings with 51 points.

Today: Sunday’s television coverage begins at 2:30 p.m. on Fox (19). The green flag is scheduled to drop shortly after 3 p.m.

Next: NASCAR’s top series returns to the Southeast U.S. for the first short-track race of the season, the Food City 500 at Bristol (Tenn.) Motor Speedway.
