First Presbyterian Church, 3654 Main St., is hosting special Wednesday evening programs during Lent. Dinner is served from 6 to 6:45 p.m. followed by a short communion service with messages, via Skype, from Presbyterian Church (USA) mission workers around the world.

Next week’s program will feature Mark and Miriam Maldonado Escobar, who are mission co-workers with the Presbyterian Border Ministry in Agua Prieta, Mexico. Their commitment to break down the barriers that stand between those of differing nationality, ethnicity or social class defines their ministry.

March 21 will feature Kay Day, who was appointed to serve in Malawi in July 2009. She is working with the Blantyre Synod of the Church of Central Africa Presbyterian. She is the synod chaplain, a companion and minister to fellow ministers who each serve an average of four congregations. She was a minister in Pittsburgh Presbytery.

March 28 will be Mamie Broadhurst and Richard Williams, pastoral accompaniers with the Presbyterian Church of Colombia, South America. They work with “Roberto,” small farmer and a leader of displaced people.
