Dangerous animal legislation introduced in Ohio Senate
Ohioans who own bears, tigers, lions, gray wolves and other dangerous wild animals and primates would be required to obtain state permits in order to keep them after Jan. 1, 2014, under legislation introduced in the Ohio Senate Thursday.
The bill would require those owners to microchip their animals, construct proper cages or containment facilities and carry adequate insurance, among other provisions.
It also would ban the acquisition of new dangerous wild animals or restricted primates, though it would allow the breeding and sale of pythons and other restricted snakes.
