POLICE CALLS

A summary of recent criminal activity in Liberty and Girard:

LIBERTY

Feb. 29

Theft: An Ohio Avenue man reported another man stole $500 from him.

Theft: Police arrested 48-year-old Henry A. Garner at the Mahoning County jail. Garner, of 3531 Hillman St., Youngstown, was wanted on an outstanding township warrant charging him with theft.

Harassment: A Sampson Drive woman alleged her brother sent threatening text messages regarding a property dispute.

Arrest: Austintown police handed 43-year-old Eric R. Lesick, 116 Glacier Drive, Youngstown, to township authorities. He was accused of failing to appear in court.

Theft: A Sherman Oaks, Calif., man who owns a Chrysann Drive home reported 25 landscaping stones missing, for a $2,500 loss.

Assault: A Youngstown man at a Belmont Avenue motel told police a woman struck his face several times during an argument. The accuser had a bloody and swollen mouth.

March 1

Drugs: A traffic stop on Belmont Avenue led to a felony cocaine-possession charge against 28-year-old Alex M. Baugh, 5103 Brunswick Ave., Vienna. A police dog led to the discovery of three cigarette packs, one of which contained a bag of suspected cocaine, a report showed.

Attempted breaking and entering: A witness saw someone kick in a garage door to an abandoned building in the 2800 block of Belmont Avenue before scaring off the intruder. No entry was made.

Threats: A Church Hill Road man told police a 21-year-old Brampton, Ontario, Canada, man sent him two threatening emails regarding a disciplinary procedure related to a medical-career fair in Toronto.

March 2

Possible fraud: A Green Acres Drive man reported receiving collection calls claiming he owes $583 for a service he had discontinued. The man’s credit report listed a Boardman address he was unfamiliar with, a report said.

Child endangerment: A Minnetonka, Minn., man reported his 6-year-old daughter had a mouth infection that spread, as well as other signs of neglect, while the girl lived on Middle Drive. Police contacted Trumbull County Children Services Board.

Theft: A Cortland woman reportedly stole a 10-pack of energy drinks from Walmart, 200 Goldie Road.

Breaking and entering: Police charged David J. Sammartino, 50, of 391 Goldie Road, Liberty, with two counts of breaking and entering after a building in the 3100 block of Logan Way was broken into. The front doors and a garage door had been forced open, a report said.

March 3

Theft: A Youngstown woman reported a credit card missing while at a Belmont Avenue motel.

Arrest: A traffic stop near state Route 711 resulted in 23-year-old Conswayla T. Reynolds’ arrest. Reynolds, of 1465 Townsend Ave., Liberty, was wanted on two warrants and faced a charge of having no operator’s license.

March 4

Drugs: Officers conducted a welfare check in a vehicle near Gypsy Lane, where they issued a summons to Casey A. Stanford, 40, of 24 Brookline Drive, Youngstown, charging him with drug abuse. A suspected marijuana cigar was found, police said.

Drugs: A traffic stop near Tibbetts-Wick Road led to charges of drug abuse and operating a vehicle impaired against 31-year-old Brian J. Moran, 3022 Bradley-Brownlee Road, Cortland. A bag of suspected marijuana was found, officers said.

Arrest: Police on state Route 304 pulled over 28-year-old Robert A. Prodnick, 426 Joan Ave., Girard, and charged him with operating a vehicle impaired and having no operator’s license.

Domestic violence: Jeffrey Gadison, 41, was taken into custody at his residence, 126 Mill Run Drive, Liberty, on a domestic-violence charge after Gadison’s fiancee alleged he had grabbed her face and pinned her to the floor during an argument. The accuser suffered a bruise and scratches.

GIRARD

Feb. 29

Domestic violence: Officers arrested Kevin J. Jancsy, no age given, at his residence, 271 Forsythe Ave., Girard, and charged him after Jancsy’s wife alleged he had kicked her arm during an argument, knocking her over.

Burglary: To a residence in the 200 block of East Second Street, from which a collection of pocket knives and a wooden box were taken. The loss was estimated at $3,750.

Theft: A Broadway Avenue woman noticed her wallet missing.

Attempted breaking and entering: Someone damaged a garage door in an effort to enter Quality Roofing Inc., 201 N. State St.

March 2

Criminal mischief: A pickup truck drove through and left ruts in a yard in the 900 block of Shannon Road before speeding away.

Criminal damaging: Several portions of a vinyl fence were damaged, possibly with a projectile, in the 400 block of East Broadway Avenue.

March 4

Domestic violence: Police charged Obadiah Hall, 1003 Church Hill Road, Youngstown, after a South Davis Street woman alleged Hall had pointed a gun at her during an argument. Authorities confiscated an unloaded .357-magnum firearm, a report showed.

Felonious assault: A worker for Trumbull Memorial Hospital in Warren told police a male patient reported having been shot in the foot while at a gambling party in Girard, though the victim was unable to recall the location.

Criminal mischief: Someone tossed eggs at vehicles in the 600 block of Church Hill Road.

Possible breaking and entering: A neighbor reported a shed door open at a Church Hill Road residence, though police found no signs the lock had been tampered with, and nothing appeared to be missing.
