Pittsburgh Film Office: Bale, Damon flicks coming to the city

PITTSBURGH (AP) — The Pittsburgh Film Office say film producers are advertising for crews to work on two pictures this spring, one each starring Christian Bale and Matt Damon.

“Out of the Furnace” stars Bale, who spent time in Pittsburgh last year filming the newest Batman sequel, “The Dark Knight Rises.” The movie will reportedly shoot in the gritty, blue-collar suburbs of Braddock and Rankin.

The Matt Damon movie is “Promised Land,” to be directed by Gus Van Sant and also features John Krasinski, of NBC’s sitcom “The Office” and Frances McDormand. In it, Damon reportedly plays a salesman who has a life-changing experience after moving to a small town.

Damon also previously shot a movie in the Pittsburgh area, coming in 1998 to shoot “Dogma” with director Kevin Smith.
